Imaginarium
ReAnglia asks how we can re-imagine our region so that we live in balance with Nature. The ReAnglia Imaginarium is a space that invites you to imagine that future here – through art, fiction, poetry, design, architecture, biomimicry, futures fiction and beyond, all picturing what a regenerative, relational future could look like for the East of England.
Why? Because imagination is more than just fantasy – it is a necessary tool for change.
We’re looking for ideas that treat nature as kin, not resource – where humans are part of the web, not managing it from outside. We take it for granted that we can redirect a river or engineer away a flood; balance might mean asking how much we could let Nature’s own systems run their course. Even well-intentioned ideas can be quietly extractive – of Nature, of others, or of ourselves (when our modern lifestyles ask us to be constantly productive and performative). We ask that you stay mindful of this as you imagine.
We’re not looking for utopian fantasies: perfect, finished worlds with no path to them. We want ideas that are innovative yet grounded enough that you can see how we might actually get there. Work should offer ideas that could take root in this region. This includes ideas already flourishing elsewhere in the world – we’re just as interested in how you think they could be used here as we are in wholly new ideas.

What makes this different from other Imaginariums and similar imagination activism?
Instead of a live event or workshop, ReAnglia’s Imaginarium is an ongoing, open call for anyone to contribute.
It does not just ask you to imagine a better future – it asks you to ground that imagining in regenerative, relational, Nature-led principles (influenced by the ways of our ancestors) and to do so in a way that shows a path to getting there.
How to submit
We’d love to receive your contribution – perhaps a story, a design, an image or photo, an idea – it does not need to be fully formed or ‘perfect’.
Submissions are reviewed before publishing, you keep all rights to your work and simply give us permission to display it. If AI played a part in creating it, just let us know. We can’t promise individual feedback, but every submission will be read with care. With your permission, your work will be credited with your name(s).
